Student suspended for carrying classmate having an asthma attack to the nurse.

A student at a Killeen Texas school has been suspended after possibly saving another students life. Anthony Ruelas was in class at his middle school when another student began having an asthma attack and started to choke. The teacher in the class advised all students to remain in their seats while waiting for an email reply from the school nurse. After 2 minutes the student collapsed. That’s when Ruelas jumped into action. Ignoring the teachers instructions the young man picked up his female friend and rushed her to the nurse. According to KCEN news the suspension referral reads as follows.

“During 5th period another student complained that she couldn’t breathe and was having an asthma attack. As I waited for a response from the nurse the student fell out of her chair to the floor. Anthony proceeded to go over and pick her up, saying ‘f—k that we ain’t got time to wait for no email from the nurse.’ He walks out of class and carries the other student to the nurse.”

Anthony Reulas’s mother states she is proud of her son for the actions he took and is considering home education from now on. In another twist. The family received a call the day after the event asking why Anthony was not in school. They then had to remind the caller that they has suspended her son.

The student having the asthma attack has made a full recovery thanks to some quick thinking on Anthony’s part. He did receive a text from his classmate thanking him and saying she was ok. As for the school they are refusing to comment on any specifics citing confidentiality.

It’s amazing how pc the world has become when actions that at one time would be considered heroic are now punished like a crime. What do you think? Did the school do the right thing? Or was this a failure to commend a quick thinking hero.
